Keith Birmingham is a Los Angeles-based photographer specializing in sports, editorial, and portrait photography. He has been an employee photographer for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group for 24 years, including the Pasadena Star-News, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the Whittier Daily News, and the Los Angeles Daily News. His work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, Nashville Tennessean, GQ, Life Magazine, Sporting News, Los Angeles Dodgers Magazine, the National Sports Daily, and the Associated Press and United Press International publishes Photojournalism: The Professionals’ Approach by Kenneth Kobre and Out of the Blue by Joe Haakenson, the story of 2002 World Champion Anaheim Angels. As an award-winning photographer including awards from the National Press Photographers Association, Pictures of the Year International, the Greater Los Angeles Press Photographers Association, and the California Press Photographers Association, he was also named Picture of the Year by SportsShooter.com and by his newspaper nominated for three Pulitzer Awards. Keith has played 20 Rose Bowl games, four men’s basketball final fours, two women’s basketball final fours, three Major League Baseball World Series, the Super Bowl, six NBA finals, two women’s world championships, one men’s World Cup and many other sporting events covered The United States. He has also treated Hurricane Katrina and many major California wildfires.
