Birmingham City new rising star Amari Miller has spoken of his delight at his first team breakthrough and expressed his determination to start under Lee Bowyer.
The young attacker has made three substitute appearances under Blues’ new head coach, all in the white heat of a relegation battle in the championship.
The 18-year-old is sure to make his debut in the next few games – possibly against Cardiff City this weekend.
And when he spoke to Blues TV ahead of what might be a big day in his career, the academy product showed his motivation for wanting to be successful at blues.

“It was amazing,” said Miller. “I can never ask for more. It’s exactly what I wanted and I know it’s obviously not the end, I have to keep pushing for more and it’s all up to me.
“There are people who support me, so it is important that I come, I provide, I do my job and work hard.
“It was always about patience, just keep working hard. Regardless of whether I play against 18, 23 or the first team this season, I try to give everything and do as much as possible.

Bowyer has praised Miller for his “fearless” approach to high pressure league games, and while the youngster admits it was a step up, he wasn’t overwhelmed.
“The training units are much more intense and everyone in the first team is louder, everyone communicates that they know what they are doing. Everyone has a goal, everyone wants to achieve it and I know everyone will do as much as possible to get there.
“Of course it will be difficult, but it is as expected when you go up. I just have to make sure I can take it, hopefully stay here and move on and get more time.

“Every time I came, he said to me: do what you normally do.
“When you get there, you’ve obviously done something good before, nine out of ten, I hope it’s not a coincidence.
“He just says, ‘Go out, think, go and show everyone’ – that’s great for us young players, we have a lot of young players in training and there is really a good atmosphere for everyone.
“I just have to keep my head down during training, stay humble and hopefully good things will happen.”
