The Labor leader is due to give a speech in Birmingham on Tuesday trying to set out his vision for a future Labor government.
Looking ahead to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the Commonwealth Games later this year, Sir Keir is expected to say, “As the New Year begins, Britain has entered a new phase. For just as the government has proven itself unworthy of your trust, its incompetence becomes apparent.

“The cost of living is increasing. The energy bills go up; wages are stagnating. In April there will be tax increases. Too many people don’t feel safe on their streets. And good luck to everyone trying to get a quick doctor’s appointment. “
But he will say, “I understand that Labor does not simply inherit public trust just because the Tories lose public trust. Trust has to be earned. I am confident but not complacent about the task ahead. “
Sir Keir will share how he plans to set out his vision for a future Labor government based on “security, prosperity and respect”.
In his speech to local politicians and the media, he will explain how everyone has the right to feel safe, to rely on the NHS when they need to, and to have job security in exchange for hard work.
And he will outline how he believes everyone should have the opportunity to flourish, with an emphasis on skill building.
He will add, however, that respect is just as important, with each individual’s ambition deserving recognition.

The chairman of the Conservative Party, Oliver Dowden, however, criticized the speech as “aloof”.

Instead of building trust with the British people, he has lost touch and has no plan for the future of Britain. “
