I tried Kokoros Korean Fried Chicken and was surprised by the texture

I love sushi, I constantly go out of my way to eat it and so a lot of places that sell it are on my radar.

Kokoro has been on my radar for years, with the Pumpkin Katsu Curry being a quick favorite.

The last time I was there and ordered sushi, as is so often the case, a man in line sparked a conversation about the one item on the menu that was “the only reason” he went to the Japanese takeaway.

He asked if I had tried the Korean Fried Chicken and when I grabbed my shrimp sushi I had to admit I hadn’t.

But with so loud praise, I had to try.

On the way to Deliveroo, I decided it was time to place an order. Interestingly, it was stated that the dish did not come with rice or pasta (like most hot dishes).

The question arose, what would it be combined with?

With a salad, side and beverage option, I was hoping for the best as I placed my order and waited (not so patiently).

The meal with seaweed salad, vegetable spring rolls and aloe vera was £ 19.05 and was at my door within an hour.

Korean fried chicken with pickled vegetables

The roast chicken comes in a sauce with pickled vegetables on the side

The article that got me here. The roast chicken is delivered in large pieces and coated with a sweet and spicy sauce.

The sauce takes some of the crispness out of the chicken, but the taste is pretty good.

Unlike Jollibee, the texture of this chicken left a lot to be desired.

If you are someone who likes sauce on your chicken this is for you.

The pickled vegetables were nice and hot, although difficult to get through.

Seaweed salad

Kokoro seaweed salad

The seaweed salad was warmer than I would have liked and probably goes better with sushi

I love seaweed salad the most, I first tried it when it came as part of a bento box and I’ve been obsessed ever since.

Since it came in the same bag as the hot chicken, it was a little too warm when it arrived.

As someone who has eaten seaweed salad in some restaurants, I found Kokoro’s delicious.

I think it was a little boring after the tasty chicken and the warmth from traveling.

Vegetable spring rolls

Kokoro spring rolls

The spring rolls were small but tasty

It’s hard to go wrong with an egg roll, isn’t it? Though I’ve seen it when they’re filled with way too much ginger.

These were tasty, with a good balance of fillings, albeit on the thin side. I really like how full the Wok & Go spring rolls are and they remain my number one fast food spring roll.

That being said, these were delicious and in the end the only thing I could actually finish.

The sweet chili dip was the perfect size and left nothing to be desired.

Grape aloe

Grape aloe

The grape flavored aloe drink was sweet and tasty

Aloe drinks are an absolute staple when eating from anywhere like Kokoro.

It’s very sweet and sugary, but a treat.

The aloe vera chunks may be unsettling at first but only add to the experience.

I like the flavors of grape, peach, and pomegranate – although there are many on the menu.
