Bakers, cake decorators, table-layers, tea-pourers, face painters – this is your moment. The weather may not be great but we’re British and that’s not going to stop us from celebrating day four of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Birmingham and the Midlands.
Today is the final day of the long Bank Holiday weekend and the national day of the Big Lunch. Thousands of people across the UK are planning to get together to eat, drink and be merry with their neighbours.
Months of preparation have gone into today’s events, roads are being closed, decorations bought, food cooked and sandwiches filled. Now’s the time to enjoy it.

Sadly, the final day of the Jubilee festival in Victoria Square has had to be canceled due to torrent rain but there’s lots more going on.
