Police in New South Wales today called on 300 military personnel to intervene to enforce strict lockdown conditions.
Experts have warned that restrictions could remain in place until September, with international travel possibly not on the map until next year.
Australia’s Treasury Secretary Simon Birmingham told the local media in May 2021 that Australians “will see no borders torn open early next year … different flavors of Covid, the length of its longevity and effectiveness.”
Currently, an average of 186 new infections are reported daily in Australia.
